Issam M. Fares Lecture
In 1991, Fares I. Fares, trustee and the son of Trustee Emeritus
Issam M. Fares, first conceived of a
lecture series to further the understanding of issues facing the Middle
East. Today, the Issam M. Fares Lecture is the fulfillment of that
idea. Since his graduation from Tufts University in 1992, Fares I. Fares has
remained active in providing input about the lecture series, as well as in the
activities of the Executive Committee of the Fares Center.
The Issam M. Fares Lecture is supported by an endowment from the Fares
Foundation that enables Tufts University to promote Middle Eastern studies in
the humanities, social sciences, and arts, through
courses in history, political science, economics, sociology,
anthropology, demographic studies, and languages.
